³³ “And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man^(A) and put him in charge of the land of Egypt.^(B)

²¹ But select capable men^(A) from all the people—men who fear^(B) God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain^(C)—and appoint them as officials^(D) over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.

²² Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case^(A) to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share^(B) it with you.

⁸ “Do not accept a bribe,^(A) for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.

¹³ Choose some wise, understanding and respected men^(A) from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.”

Judges

¹⁸ Appoint judges^(A) and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly.^{(B) 19} Do not pervert justice^(C) or show partiality.^(D) Do not accept a bribe,^(E) for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent. ²⁰ Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God is giving you.
